The Desert Lighthouse Certificates were developed to help raise money for the design and construction of the Desert Lighthouse permanent installation. Vandalized Solar Panel, 2022
Solar panel, UV ink on plexiglas
39 x 77 1/8 inches
$5,500

The Desert Lighthouse’s remote location leaves it vulnerable to unexpected vandalism. In one such instance, unidentified visitors damaged a solar panel while throwing rocks at the Desert Lighthouse’s solar array. A large rock crashed down onto one solar panel creating dramatic radiating circles of smashed glass. I proceeded to overlay an image of the Desert Lighthouse glowing at night onto the vandalized solar panel, positioning the lighthouse over the damaged area. The radiating circular cracks in the broken glass of the solar panel now appear as if they are beams of light emanating from lighthouse’s beacon.

Fresnel Lens (From Within), 2022
Cast acrylic fresnel lens, laser transparency, plexiglas, wood, led, electrical wire
15 3/8 x 5 3/4 x 3 5/8 inches
$6,000

This work repurposes an actual fresnel lens from the Desert Lighthouse’s high powered beacon in the form of a lightbox. Behind the magnifying fresnel lens is the imagery from the inside of the lighthouse looking up through it’s utilitarian spacecraft-like interior. This rare view, not available to public visitors to the Desert Lighthouse, shows the often unseen architectural beauty of the Desert Lighthouse from within.

Replica Capstones, 2017
Cast aluminum
16.5 x 5 x 5 inches
Edition of 10 + 2 A.P. + 1 Exhibition Copy
$3,500
*Only six remain available for purchase

During the 2017 construction of the Desert Lighthouse, a series of capstones were produced at a local alumi- num foundry. From this group one was placed on the top of the nearly fifty-foot lighthouse to serve as both a symbolic spire and a functional lighting rod. The capstone, forged from raw aluminum, is a scale miniature of the lighthouse itself and even features its own miniature capstone. The remaining 10 capstones (plus 2 A.P.s) have been made available for sale as “replicas” to fund the continued operation and maintenance of the Desert Lighthouse.

Radical Mountain Formation, 2020
Cast aluminum, black plexiglas
84 x 42 x 30 inches
$7,500

The Radical Mountain project is an alpine adventure film about the conquest of a summit with an elevation of zero - ultimately taking form as an idiosyncratic translation of Land Art. With the Radical Mountain film still under development, the project has amassed a large body of related works. This cast aluminum sculpture depicts the mythical unseen mountain at the center of the project’s narrative. By combining the Dow Jones Industrial Average Mountain Graph with the silhouette of Shipwreck (a sacred indigenous mountain in Northern New Mexico), a third mountain is formed - possibly a Radical Mountain.

This work was commission by Kite Pharma , a leading pharmaceutical research company based in Santa Monica California. Their technology played a meaningful role in the implementation of the MNRA Covid Vaccines as well as cutting edge cancer treatments. The sculpture is on view at their headquarters from August, 2020 to November, 2022. This commission is part of a “One Percent for Art” program that helps fund public work and allows that work to return to the artist after a public viewing period. The sculpture is available for purchase to private collectors and can be delivered in mid-November.
